Good Morning all...

had my coffee on the back porch around half past five this morning...I was out there early enough to see two young deer walk out of the woods and go across the back yard down by the creek and into the wooded area on the other side of Barb and Dave's property....'didn't have my camera handy but took pictures a few moments later..

Peete's Landing ???

We need to come up with a name for our new "cabin"...soon to be under construction in
          Alabama The Beautiful

As you regular readers know we are relocating to be with family members who are better able to assist me in caring for Bob...and also  we've just wanted to be near Barb and her family for a long time...
Together we are having our new home built. Bob has always wished for a "little cabin in the woods" ...
"The woods" is on Barb and Davids property...perhaps  50  yds??? behind their home....behind David's detached extra garage.

This picture and floor plan is the one we are  using as our model...with changes...

Here is the floor plan after the changes...the front porch will go  all the way across the house ...It will be handicap accessable throughout...no steps anywhere...even a shower that you can roll a wheelchair into...the house will be sitting at an angle to the "big house" and the front of the house is facing the back of the lot. The "great room and kitchen" has been switched to the opposite side as  in the  plan above so that the tall windows will look out onto Barbs yard and house.

Some trees had to be cut down...

anywho....any suggestions for a name???
I've ruled out Soggy Bottom, Beaver Place, Whistling Creek, Driftwood Chalet...
considering "Peete's Landing"...

"with a banjo on my knee"

Yes Indeed!!! 'goin' to Alabama...
Not for a measly 3 or 4 day visit...but to take up residence!
Bob's long time wish for "a little cabin in the woods" is coming true. Plans are underway to start construction...

It will look something like this...with the porch extended to cover the entire front of the house...(appx. 28 ft.)

It will not be logs (too expensive) and it will now have a metal roof....but it will have wonderfully vaulted ceilings and a wall full of windows that stretch from floor to celing..It's small (just over 900 sq.ft.) but adequate: our present apartment is just over 700 sq.ft...so we're movin' up!

This is the house it will be behind.

This is where it will be built.... in the wooded area in the backgroung...
some trees will have to come down

Here are some of our "views"

There are also, occasionally, deer and water mocasins :)

Here is the family we will be spending our time with.

We hope to move between Christmas and New Years...The cabin will not be finished by then so we will stay in "the big house" 'til it is ready.
There is much to do here also...first and foremost, Bob has to get well enough to travel.
"Praise God from whom all blessings flow"
